A few days ago we were writing about the study conducted by Marketplace Pulse, stating that only 10% out of 700000 new sellers are still selling on Amazon.
When we read this article we stated that this is normal, since an Amazon business as any other business requires a lot of planning and work in order to grow and be successful. In the end, the Pareto rule is applicable even on Amazon.
Now the guys from Marketplace Pulse took a look at top sellers who joined in the past 365 days and how long it takes to become a top seller on Amazon. And the reality is not so striking. Since we know that only 10% out of 700000 make it, we should imagine that only a few percents out of those 70000 that were left are top sellers.
The study shows that only 5.6% of the top 10000 sellers on Amazon opened their account in the past year. This means about 1% out of the 700000 that started their business on Amazon in the last 365 days.
This is still consistent with the 1% rule that emerged in the past years in IT&C.
In the end, all it takes is hard work and a lot of determination and we are pretty sure your business can be more than just noise on Amazon. But you have to invest your time and your money to make money.
