As a business, you probably have been researching different types of marketing strategies, and there’s no doubt that you came across what’s called content marketing. Content marketing is just what it sounds like: you’re enticing potential customers and clients by giving them helpful information that’s also related to your product or service. So how can you implement content marketing in your business strategy today?
Optimize with mobile friendly content
With the access, affordability, and preference of smartphones, more people are accessing their social networks and favorite websites using mobile devices. Because these screens are smaller than your average desktop monitor, it’s going to be important to make your website, and most specifically your content, mobile friendly. Look into a responsive design for your site, and make sure your content is broken down in manageable chunks for viewers of smartphones and tablets.
Pay attention to your Analytics
Your business’ best tool is going to be Analytics. From Google to social platforms, you’ll be able to analyze how your content did with your readers. What posts engaged them the most, and which ones didn’t get the attention they deserved? Is the information evergreen and can be shared multiple times, or is it time sensitive? Incorporate the results of your Analytics when you’re planning new posts.
Do more than just text content
Many businesses are focused on just writing new blog posts, but we have to cater to the short attention spans of our audience. Visuals are huge and only getting bigger. Consider making your content in multiple formats, such as videos, slides, and audio. You can still optimize this content for search engines, and sometimes even more so. You want to draw your audience in, while also keeping them informed and entertained.
Be aware of trending topics
Trending topics have taken over and revolutionized the way people receive the news. You can tell what people are searching for and talking about on Google, Facebook, and Twitter. Use these clues to create content that people are already looking for. You might be able to get a quick burst of traffic, or even find a theme and stay ahead of the curve.
Quality is still better than quantity
You don’t want to be considered a content farm, or a place that posts just anything. You want your company to be seen as an authority in your space. Don’t post news without having a confirmed source. Don’t get caught up in click bait, or mislead your readers with exaggerated titles. Give factual evidence or well researched opinions, and choose the quality of your content over how much you post on a daily basis.
Content will always be king, but the type of content is changing and how people find and consume this content is different than it was even a few years ago. You just have to keep up with the trends, and adapt accordingly. But always remember to keep your audience first.
